September 2006

Hi Everyone!

This has been the busiest year. Here is the update.

1. Stephanie married Mr. Michael McDermott of Springfield, MO in March 2006.

2. Michael and Stephanie are expecting in February 2007! - YES, we will be grandparents.

3. Three weeks after Michael and Stephanie married we left for Omsk, Russia to adopt our three new kids. We now have seven children under the age of 12. It is exciting, busy and scary! AND MOSTLY rewarding. We are so blessed to have these children. They are doing well, speaking English and adjusting very well. They have fit in well with the other children. There is probably the normal sibling rivalry as everyone makes his mark in this family.

4. We have seen the marriages of four other friends this year. Alan and Katy Smith and then Michael Jr. and Kressant Morton (Okay - here is how it worked: Katy was a morton - notice Michael Jr. is a Morton --- it gets weirder hang on --- Alan is a Smith and Kressant was a Smith -- they married in to each other's families! isn't that cool?

5. We just got back from camping today at Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee. Do not ask why it is called Frozen Head . . . except that our children all wore hats to bed at night . . .

6. My kids had a great time with all the caterpillars, spiders, inchworms, walking stick and the Bard Owl that a ranger brought by our campsite last night . . . I will try to post a picture on that one. . . .

7. Forgot to mention that we closed down our small business we had Because I have chosen the road to keep being a mom beyond these few years I had left. God has blessed our family immensely and I just realized I cannot keep going to conferences and leaving my little children and husband at home to fend for themselves. I realized that my greatest calling from the Lord is in the home. So here I am to stay! It is a little weird as if you had told me seven years ago I would have five more children I would have laughed at you . . . and here I am. The other reason is my DH hopes to start his own millwork business and he needs my support here at home. He hopes to work with our sons eventually (our oldest son loves to work with his dad) and this is my husband's multigeneral vision.

Well I think for now that is it!
